My name is Rahab,
and this is my story ....
Rahab was a Canaanite woman living in Jericho, modern Israel, many centuries ago. Rahab was a prostitute who also became a biblical heroine. Before the conquest of Jericho, an Israelite leader, called Joshua, sent out two men as spies to investigate the city. When they came to Jericho, they lodged at Rahab’s house which was part of the city walls. When the local king heard about the two rival men, he demanded that Rahab hand them over. But Rahab hid the men on her roof as she knew that they were sent from God. She told the guards that the men had already left. Then Rahab let the two men out through the window of the town’s wall and requested that her and her family be spared when the Israelites attack Jericho. The spies gave her a crimson rope to hang from her window with the instruction that she is to gather her whole family and wait inside her house. When the Israelites destroyed Jericho, Rahab and her whole family were rescued by waiting inside the house marked with a red rope. They were the only Canaanites who survived and became part of the Israelite community. Rahab the prostitute became the great, great grandmother of King David whose lineage eventually led to the birth of Jesus Christ.
This story shows us that God cares about us regardless of our circumstances or our past. He looks at our heart and our intentions.
Who does God say you are?
Unique
You are wonderfully, remarkably and intelligently made. There is no one else like you. You are the only YOU that God has ever created. God made you to be special, distinguished and unique. You see, it was God that created your innermost being and it was God that knitted you together in your mother’s womb.
God saw who He created you to be before you became you! Before you’d ever seen the light of day, the number of days He planned for you were already recorded in His book in heaven.
Masterpiece
Every single person is a masterpiece of God. There are over seven billion people on this planet, but there is no one else with your fingerprint or with your retina pattern.
You are unique! You are an original design! You are a masterpiece! You are a priceless work of art.
It is because God is wonderful, that we are wonderful.
When you look at yourself and everything that makes you who you are, with your talents and giftings, you should be amazed of what God has created in you.
Never give into the lie that you are anything less than the most wonderful reflection of a loving God! You are made in the image and likeness of God.
Perfectly Created
God saw you before you were born. Every day of your life was recorded in His book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed.
“As for God, His way is perfect: The LORD’s word is flawless; He shields all who take refuge in Him".
God’s way is perfect, and His Word is flawless. That means when God’s Word says that He created your innermost being, then that means God designed you exactly the way He meant you to be.
When God’s Word says you are His masterpiece, then you really are His masterpiece.
“For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things He planned for us long ago".
God looks much deeper, and He knows us. Do you want to know Him as He already knows you? Did you know that you can talk to God at any time at any place?
The message of Rahab is this:
There is hope of salvation for all who wish to be rescued from destruction, and an invitation is extended to join God’s people.
For I know the plans that I have for you,’
declares the LORD, ‘plans for prosperity and not for disaster,
to give you a future and a hope.'
